In order to get a better picture of who uses the SMMGP forums (both members and non-members) we are conducting a quick survey.

It doesn't matter if you post messages or just read what others have written, it would be really helpful if you could answer the question below, which is completely anonymous:

Question:
Which of the following roles most applies to you when you're using the SMMGP forums?

Choices:
GP
Psychiatrist
Other doctor
Pharmacist
Nurse (mental health)
Nurse (primary care)
Other nurse
Drug worker (primary care)
Drug worker (secondary care)
Social worker
Commissioner
DAT officer
Patient/User
Other

Looked at choices and as i work as a Specialist Substance Misuse Practitioner managing drug services non fit apart from other nurse. I don't work as a RMN primarily despite that being one of my qualifications.

And i think nearly 20 yrs working in this field entitles some separate recognition.

Because my current role encompasses several areas and i use the forums and have done previously to deal with all areas, not just as a registered nurse.

Sorry Glyn, I'm afraid you're a nurse, so bite the bullet and tick the box, Wink

Hi

we couldn't cover every eventuality. I'm surprised shared care co-ordinator in some way is not there (I thought it was). Hopefully in tmany cases it can be covered by DAT officer or commissioner. I expect, hoever the 20% other category contains a few.

Its really for our benefit, so we can tell our commissioners the breakdown of people using the site. But hopefully thats useful for you as well.

Some of us have multi roles; I work for the substance misuse commissioning team and as a clinician; a good combination I think!

Jim,

I rarely work primarily as a registered nurse - thats just a formal qualification i have, along with another bit of paper i have for my 1st class honours degree.

It doesn't define the role i fulfill, and the same can be said for, i would say, the majority of people involved in substance misuse management in any setting.

I do my substance misuse work entirely within a clinic setting never in General Practice. This covers opiates, alcohol, tobacco, calories, benzo's. So I read these forums as a GPsI not as a GP

I think we set up this poll before the alliance started having regional advocates, theres a few things missing really but you can't put down everything and its really just a quick and dirty guide to who uses these forums

It was only a passing comment Jim and i thought the issue of User or Other was worth mentioning.
I must say though that the National Model of Advocacy began in March/April 05.

I thought this poll had been on for about 5 years, but I see its only 2007. I must be losing it. Anyway it was never going to be perfect. I notice no-one has voted 'other' yet, so most poeple are finding something to ally themselves to (or not voting).
