Good day to all our fantastic Non medical prescriber members. We are currently putting together a special edition of Network newsletter as part of the dissemination of the new clinical guidelines and NICE guidance documents. We are looking to publish some quotes from key stakeholders regarding their impementation andlikely impact on the field.

Would any of you feel able to give us a quote or short piece regarding this. You can post it on here, e-mail it to me on smmgp@freeuk.com or phone it to me on 0151 632 0409

we would really really appreciate it.

thanks

Are you wanting general comments on the new Guidelines or about the non medical prescribing chapter in them?

OK, well Emily Finch is doing a walk through the clinical guidelines at the PANN London meeting next week, which I plan to attend, so will give it some thought after that!

Sorry to bring this up again could really do with a quote or two from NMPs for this special edition as there will be no representation otherwise. If we don't get one by the end of the week we will have to go without which would be a major gap from our point of view.

Won't NHS Trusts have views about their employees offering public comments Jim?

In my experience talking to the press (even inncuously to the 'good' press) can sometimes be a hanging offense.

Si,
I'm not employed by a trust, sent some comments to Jim will think of others randomly as they jump into my mind.

I know you're not Simon.
I was thinking of you (being an exception) as I posted the comment.

If that was the case then noone would comment on this site. We have only had problems when something untoward is said. People from trusts publish in our newsletter all the time, I suppose a quote is somewhat different but I'm not sure it has to be. I didn't realise we were seen as the press! If we are there would be a problem.

Well I know Jim.
We've all been talking for nigh on 6 years on this site, and long may we continue.

But I do think the issue is not necessarily clearcut.
I know of acknowledged experts working in NHS provider CDTs who have not been allowed by their management to offer comments to the drug treatment press on say, street drug prices. On pain of dicipline.
The rationale is usually that only the Trust press office is allowed to do that sort of thing, although there may be more going on in that decision-making process than meets the eye.

People have to use their own judgement I guess.
As you quite rightly imply that they do too when they post here .

Cheers
Simon
