Am slowly working towards getting prescribing clinic up and running. Now have lilac prescription pads - but need to be able to do instalment prescribing primarily. Can anyone help me with a)Can nurse prescribers get FP10s? and b)How do we organise this? Many thanks. Tina Mobsby

Tina,
yes you can use instalment pads and it depends where you order your other pads from. Ours are ordered from the Supplies dept on a requisition. I think it's important to be mindful to order plenty and make sure you order them well in advance as sometimes they can take some time. You can computer generate them, we use emis and it requires some changes to each computer you use. EMIS can talk you through this if you phone them, if you use this system.
If you get a bit of oppostition go on Dept. of health website and type 'prescription forms' in the search box it clearly states which prescriptions can be used by each type of prescriber.
regards
Simon
ps yesterday a Nurse practitioner was told by prescribing lead she can't computer generate rx and only Doctors can use green rx Yawn ZZzzZZZ

I order my own handwritten blue MDA pads on a spreadsheet direct to Astron which the PCT gave me - they come in about 10 days usually. Mainly I use blank blue and green ones and put them through the printer - much easier if you get the system set up.
