My apologies for indulging in a blatant bit of advertising but it is something which I hope might be useful to members of the group and which they may not be aware of. If any GPs are interested in running an audit on their care for heroin users, the PRIMIS+ query set should make life much easier. It is fast, free and runs on all GP software systems. It uses Miquest and CHART (Excel) to display results. It examines lots of aspects of care: engagement in treatment, Hepatitis B immunisation status, Hepatitis and HIV testing, outcomes and more. It may well be that the first run discovers considerable under-recording of work done but that can be a valuable result in itself. Use of filtered worksheets make it easy to produce lists of people who need chasing up about immunisation, for example. This maybe a useful tool for any practices that need to run an audit of care for the PCT or for GPs doing Part 2 of the RCGP Certificate or for appraisal/revalidation. If you want to compare your results with other practices, you can do this by uploading your own results to CHART online. Many practice managers are familiar with CHART and CHART online from the IMT DES submissions. Help with installing and running the software should be available from PCT IMT facilitators. The software is available to download from www.primis.nhs.uk (you need to be registered-most practices already are).

This is very interesting. lots of questions and a plea for help: How long has this been around? How many people have used it so far? What is the congruence between this and NDTMS? And most of all how can i download the query set, I've registered, and then gone round in circles on the website but never got to the query set itself!
