Just a quick thanks to the organisers and speakers in York on Tuesday - the new guidance is welcome to me and the speakers were excellent. It is good to know that NICE is clearly saying that all people ready for treatment should be offered it, even if they are injecting. That very nice medical chap from down south ( sorry it's late and I've forgotten his name ) gave an inspiring account of his policy to treat people early in their disease history, as outcomes were significantly better. It made me think that although we live in a world of budget cuts and a certain amount of prejudice, I hope we can begin to talk to more clients about the possibility of treatment and what it entails, rather than let them live too long in ignorance. Of course the choice is theirs, and there is no point putting people into treatment without the preparation and support needed, but I have not been so inspired by a conference in a long time. Maybe I should go to some more ! Any other comments would be good to hear, I am sure there is more to this than the simplicity of " treatment for all" ........ I will now go read the OG's and do my bit before the deadline ........

Yes Gill I completely agree it was a great day and I have already found myself asking more people about their Hep C and encouraging them to go for treatment.
The point about the money is that we have to think 40 years ahead, how much we will save then! But getting health planners to think that far ahead is the difficulty in the current climate...

Yes - invest to save comes to mind, but this time it is Secondary care who will have to choose between targetting younger or older, and devloping policies to back up their choices. I just look forward to participating in making some people "quickly" better !
