Hi all, just wanted to let you know about this years LDPF conference. Its on the 6th June at the Guildhall in the City of London.

"Joining it Up" will look at the challenges we can expect to face over the span of the new drug strategy including what the developing patterns of drug use may mean for those delivering services to drug users and in particular their families, how the role of general practice will change - bring more and more services away from specialist agencies and back into the community. The continued threat of blood borne viruses will be explored in a session looking at treatment in the UK and harm reduction internationally. Colleagues from Scotland will also explore what harm reduction can mean from a criminal justice perspective.

Speakers include:

Graham Foster, Professor of Hepatology at Queen Mary, University of London and a consultant hepatologist at Barts and The London NHS Trust in East London.

Dr Stefan Janikiewicz, GP & Clinical Director for Wirral Drug Service

Joy Barlow, Strategic Programme Manager Scottish Training - Drugs and Alcohol, University of Glasgow

As with last years highly successful event there will be considerable opportunity for attendees to input into the day. The conference will be structured to allow consideration of key issues and to promote debate. There will also be opportunities to network with colleagues from across the range of agencies involved in responding to drug related problems.

Further info is available by emailing ldpf@cityoflondon.gov.uk

Hope to see you there
