A cunning ploy to by pass NHS waiting times for patients needing either X-Ray or Ultra Sound is to use the new 2005 Drugs Act.Contact the boys in blue suggest you suspect your patient of having swallowed a Class A, and if my admittedly jaundiced view of the new legislation is correct a suitably qualifed person will carry out the procedure.Result.
Is this another example of legislating in haste, prior to the dissolution of parliament with all the problems associated with this .How do those who are expected to make it work feel.

That sounds like a very exciting opportunity not to be missed. The next time I am searching for gall stones, or want to know if someones carrying twins, I'll ring up the local plod.

I have to admit that in this busy world of pre-conferance nerves, GMS2 QOF points (a GP thing) and occasional sunny weather, I've not so much as cast a glance at this new act. Are there any other pearls of madness in it? Is there any good in it? (Always walk on the bright side?)

Well aren't we all moving back to fund holding in another name?. Maybe you could get a contract with the local police to carry out these things cheaper or even free!. And the patient would get a free taxi!.
