Is it available and is anybody actually using it?
How does its cost compare to Subutex?
My thanks,as always, in anticipation of your replies.

Hi Simon,
I've heard it's used in Europe but not heard of it being used in the UK.
Cheers and thanks,
George

Our wonderful DAT pharmacist sent me this::

http://pharmalicensing.com/public/press/view/1184324467...-ethypharm-in-france

I sent an email to some random contact from the website, asking if they could bring it to england, but got no reply so far. maybe someone else could try?

I suppose they have to go through that process which the Eptadone went through?

I have not heard about it coming t this country yet
There was not indication of price, was there? And lets face it, that is the reason generics are prescribed
With the pound/euro exchange rate, drugs that were cheaper to purchase abroad are no longer the 'bargain' they were. Not sure if that is the reason

I picked the first old thread about this that was on the list.
I've just seen the generic 8mg and 2mg today that a patient fetched in to show me. I'd seen the 8mg before but not the 2mg.
They are exactly the same size so just a word of caution.

be warned if you are doing 1mg reductions.... I dont think it can be halved as easily as the subutex...

But we can easily Rx the 400mcg strength tablets of buprenorphine, which i have always done when people are reducing at that level. I often replace one 2mg tab, with 5x400mcgm tabs initially, so that people can make their own reduction as they feel able.

I had already noted on this site that the 8mg and 2mg tabs are the same size, which appears a bit odd, but i have continued my habit of prescribing generically since the newer version of buprenorphine appeared, and have no recent complaints from patients, who seem to have got used to the change. Hopefully as time passes the price will reduce.

I have still not found any patient with a clinical indication for Suboxone.

Hi Judith,
We also precribe the 0.4mg tablets for people on lesser amounts often less than 4mg, we'll give a 2mg and however many 0.4mg as needed.
